Spring Indie Shop is right around the corner! Only 8 days left!! Let the countdown begin.
In
preparation for the upcoming Indie Shop on May 13th in
Torrance California, I've interviewed all the vendors that will be
there. I will be posting interviews so that
you can get to know each and every one of the faces behind the
brands.
Now.... TO THE INTERVIEW!!!
Today I present to you Fanchromatic Nails!
What is your name and where are you from?
My name's Lynae Zebest, and San Francisco, CA is my current home...but I grew up traveling all over the world!
When did you start Fanchromatic Nails?
I
started Fanchromatic Nails in 2012.
What is meaning behind Fanchromatic Nails and how did you come up with your brand name?
My brand is inspired by all kinds of different fandoms, mostly sci-fi
& fantasy. I generally base my colors around actual screenshots or
descriptions :) My brand name means "colors for fans" and is taken from a
fanfiction archive I used to run, where all stories were based around a
particular color prompt!
What do you love about what you do?
My favorite thing is designing new colors: mixing them bit by bit until I
find the perfect thing. My second favorite is meeting my fans &
customers at in-person events! I love seeing how people react to my
work.
What are your favorite finishes or colors to work with?
My absolute favorites are MATTES! I make matte metallics as well as just
flat mattes, and I do some slight variants like leather finishes. On
the other side of the finish spectrum, I love me some holo glitter
bombs!
Will
this be your first event like Indie Shop and if not what do you like
about doing events like this?
This will be my first all-indie-polish event, but I have sold my wares
at events like Renegade Craft Fair, Patchwork, etc, as well as
comics/sci-fi conventions. At this point I always release my new colors
in-person first, because there's nothing like that wonderful real time
feedback.
How long does it take to prepare for events like Indie Shop?
At this point I have my event setup pretty streamlined, but I definitely
still dedicate a few days to making sure I'm stocked up on everything,
and seeing what special things I can do for each show. Also for this
Indie Shop, my partner and I are road tripping from SF to LA with our
cat, who's undergoing chemo and can't be left behind.
The event theme is Candy Shop, what's your favorite candy? Will you have any candy themed products?
I love all things gummy, especially sour gummy worms. I'm debuting a new
sweets (and Neko Atsume) themed color, Tower of Treats, and also will
have some special candy nail art supplies on offer!
What will you be bringing to Indie Shop and will you be offering an event exclusive for attendees?
I'm bringing my full catalog of colors (including more than 10 that
haven't been released online yet, such as a 4-piece collection inspired
by Westworld), a "bargain bin" of discontinued colors, nail polish
jewelry-making kits, nail treatment sets, and (just for fun) some
sensory slime! I won't have an event exclusive, but I will be debuting 2
new colors there, which will be limited-edition :)
Is there anything else that you would like people to know about you or Fanchromatic Nails?
Some of our new releases are thermochromic (color-changing with
temperature). We try to point them out to folks, but do feel free to ask
if that's of special interest to you! Very limited quantities of those
will be available.
