Indie Shop Spring 2017 Interviews - Bad Bitch Polish

There is only 4 days left until the event!

We're dwindling down to the last three interviews!

Are you excited? I know I am.

In preparation for the upcoming Indie Shop this Saturday, May 13th in Torrance California, I interviewed all the vendors that will be there. These interviews are a chance for you to get to know each and every one of the faces behind the brands.

Now.... TO THE INTERVIEW!!!

I present to you Bad Bitch Polish

What is your name and where are you from?

My name is Britt Pearson and I'm from South California.

When did you start Bad Bitch Polish?

I started Bad Bitch Polish in 2013.

What is meaning behind Bad Bitch Polish and how did you come up with your brand name?

Bad Bitch Polish is all about strength with attitude. My partner was actually the one who came up with the name- he's also the one behind most of our cheeky polish names!

What do you love about what you do?

I absolutely love creating colors- mixing and experimenting and seeing what it turns out as. I've also met some amazing people through the indie polish scene who I consider good friends.

What are your favorite finishes or colors to work with?

I know they can seem boring, but I love creating creams. They're a lot harder to get right than you'd think, and I love it when I can knock a formula out of the park. Holos & glitters are a tie for my second favorite.

Will this be your first event like Indie Shop and if not what do you like about doing events like this?

I've been at every Indie Shop except Atlanta! I love getting out and meeting fellow polish lovers. It's so much fun to see the faces behind the screen names and brand names.

How long does it take to prepare for events like Indie Shop?

I start planning months in advance- basically as soon as I know when and where the event is. I start thinking about exclusives, special launches, contests, and everything else that goes into these events. It's a lot of work, but so much fun and definitely worth it!

The event theme is Candy Shop, what's your favorite candy? Will you have any cany themed products?

I'm a huge dark chocolate fan, but I love the Easter season for giving me Starburst jelly beans. I'll be launching a saltwater taffy-themed stamping set at the event- a perfect set of 6 pastel stamping colors! (Usual attitude included, of course!)

What will you be bringing to Indie Shop and will you be offering an event exclusive for attendees?

The new colors I'll be bringing are my Indie Shop LE trio, the Game of Thrones inspired collection that launches on the 12th, and the taffy themed stamping colors that will be launching at the event. I'll also be bringing all of my birthstone duos that are available now (January through May), the Love Your Planet trio, mystery bottles, a variety of mini bottles, cuticle balms, and maybe a few other things!

Indie Shop Spring 2017 Interviews - KBShimmer

IT'S DOUBLE INTERVIEW DAY!!!

I present to you KBShimmer!

What is your name?

My name is Christy Rose.

When did you start KBShimmer?

Long before I ever dreamed of being in business, I loved the simple things, glitter, pedicures, and the largest box of crayons I could get my Mom to buy. I was also a curious child, and on my list of experiments was making soap, inspired by a gift of a handmade bar. Years later, after a trip to a bath store, that interest in handmade products was reawakened. I founded KBShimmer in 2008 with soap, bath bombs and skincare products. It was not until late 2011 that my love of all things sparkly and handcrafting skin care came together with the introduction of handmade nail polish. We sold our first bottles early in 2012 and have been going strong since!

What is meaning behind KBShimmer and how did you come up with your brand name?

When naming our company, we wanted the name to tie to our family. My daughter Katy, has had the nickname Katy Bug since she was a baby. So we took the KB from Katy Bug, and thought that shimmer sounded pretty with the initials, and tied into the large amount off shimmering colorants I used in our products.

What do you love about what you do?

I love being creative everyday. Be it taking new photos, naming products, or creating the polishes, each take challenges me to color outside the lines.

What are your favorite finishes or colors to work with?

I love holo! Glitter, flakes, linear, the more sparkle the better. It would be hard to pick a favorite color, but I know that gold is not my favorite color! I am a silver, copper, and rose gold person.

Will this be your first event like Indie Shop and if not what do you like about doing events like this?

This is our second Indie Shop. It think it is important to connect with customers, and doing events like this lets us meet so many fans in person.

How long does it take to prepare for events like Indie Shop?

It takes weeks to plan for events like this, if not longer! From figuring out what to bring, to table set up, to shipping the supplies to the event, it all takes a lot of time.

The event theme is Candy Shop, what's your favorite candy?

Hmmm, that is a hard one. I think that my favorite candies are anything lime, especially if it is in gummy form!

What will you be bringing to Indie Shop and will you be offering an event exclusive for attendees?

We will be bring our two new collections, All The Bright Moves, which are 6 bold and bright neon colors, and 6 new multichromes. We will also have a good stock of fan favorites with. This time we do not have any exclusives.
